In an announcement made earlier today, Apple revealed on its site that they now have 16GB iPhones for $499. Also available is a 32GB iPod Touch for the same price. No other changes have been made.
This upgrade has been long expected, but the 32GB Touch was a bit less expected. Many were hoping for a price cut on the 8GB model, but it didn’t happen. It is interesting that Apple chose to include a 32GB drive in the Touch but not the iPhone. This is probably due to short supply of the chips and because Apple wants to test them out before putting them in something as popular as the iPhone.
You can buy the new 16GB iPhone and the new 32GB iPod Touch right now on Apple’s site.

In a burst of kindness not at all unknown to Google, the search giant has released a standalone version of its Analytics web statistics software for everyone to use.
The software, dubbed Urchin, was actually bought by Google in 2005 and renamed to Google Analytics. The version Google released to the public is meant to run independently on a server, not on Google’s servers as is the case with Analytics. Analytics/Urchin is one of the best traffic stats programs out there, so good in fact that PC Fastlane uses it.
Who does this help? The average web user won’t be impacted by this, and neither will the average webmaster. The new Urchin release will benefit sites with content behind firewalls such as corporate intranet sites, however. If you wish to give it a go, click here to join the beta. The software works on a variety of operating systems, and is free for three months.

Photography is a fun sport. I personally enjoy it because there is always something new to shoot everyday. You can look at a single landscape and capture it in so many different ways. While I’m by no means a pro photographer, I do take some fairly decent pictures in my spare time. Recently, I looked on Amazon to see how much a few new lenses for my camera would cost. While most mainstream lenses are priced reasonably, there are a select few that might require you to sell your car to afford. Check out some of the biggest and baddest lenses you’ve seen after the jump.

- Same basic design. Might be a bit thinner, but that’s about it.
- Keyboard similar to the one found in the MacBook Air.
- Larger touch pad with multi-touch technology.
- Same pricing.
- Possibility of SSD or hybrid configuration.
- LED screens on 17″ models.
Those looking for a major overhaul of the MacBook Pro line will have to wait. But for those looking into buying an Apple notebook, wait a week or so and you should get a pleasant surprise. Or even better, why not buy the old MacBooks on sale once the new models come out?
