Apple Thunderbolt Display

Apple Thunderbolt Display

Hot on its heels, Apple released its new 27-inch Thunderbolt display today. It is the first Apple display to utilize the new Thunderbolt connector, a replacement for Mini DisplayPort now available on the MacBook, MacBook Pro, Mac Pro, Mac Mini and iMac. The Thunderbolt display replaces the LED Cinema display, but contains no other noticeable changes other than the Thunderbolt connector.

Like its predecessor, there’s built-in 2.1 speakers, a USB hub and an iSight camera. The new Thunderbolt ports allow you to run external hard drives alongside displays, but the Thunderbolt Display is also compatible with Mini DisplayPort Macs. It’s one of the best displays out there, but it’s $999.99 price tag means only the most astute Mac users among us can afford it. Ships in 6-8 weeks.
