Most Expensive Camera Lenses Ever

February 02, 08 by Daniel Foster

Photographer

Photography is a fun sport. I personally enjoy it because there is always something new to shoot everyday. You can look at a single landscape and capture it in so many different ways. While I’m by no means a pro photographer, I do take some fairly decent pictures in my spare time. Recently, I looked on Amazon to see how much a few new lenses for my camera would cost. While most mainstream lenses are priced reasonably, there are a select few that might require you to sell your car to afford. Check out some of the biggest and baddest lenses you’ve seen after the jump.

New MacBook Pros Coming?

February 02, 08 by Daniel Foster

MacBook Pro

With the launch of the MacBook Air, Apple insider sites like 9 to 5 Mac and Mac Rumors are reporting Cupertino will be rolling out new MacBook Pros based on Intel’s new 45nm Penryn mobile processor technology next week. Below is a brief overview of the expected features:

  • Same basic design. Might be a bit thinner, but that’s about it.
  • Keyboard similar to the one found in the MacBook Air.
  • Larger touch pad with multi-touch technology.
  • Same pricing.
  • Possibility of SSD or hybrid configuration.
  • LED screens on 17″ models.

Those looking for a major overhaul of the MacBook Pro line will have to wait. But for those looking into buying an Apple notebook, wait a week or so and you should get a pleasant surprise. Or even better, why not buy the old MacBooks on sale once the new models come out?

Relakks- The key to anonymous surfing?

December 22, 07 by Daniel Foster

Relakks

There’s a new service out there offered by the Swedish Pirate Party called Relakks. The service, which offers to anonymize Internet traffic and get around website blocks by routing web traffic through their servers in Sweden, costs only €50 per year or €5 per month. This comes out to around $72 a year or $7 per month, not bad at all for those behind overzealous firewalls or web filters, or those simply wanting privacy on the web. Check out Daniel’s review of the service after the jump.

Tips for saving at Dell

December 22, 07 by Daniel Foster

Dell Computer

It’s a shame that although technology has progressed to unprecedented levels in the last hundred years, buyer wisdom hasn’t. Whenever I hear someone talk to me about the new computer he just bought, I cringe at words like “I maxed that thing out. I paid $500 extra to get 4 GB of RAM”, or “I opted to get the installation service. It was only $200.” Computer makers often offer cheap sticker prices on decent computers, but make a killing from small upgrades and support add-ons. This guide is designed for novice/intermediate computer users who want to save money the next time they buy a new computer.

The Anatomy of a Digg Story

April 22, 06 by Daniel Foster

One of the most popular sites on the web, Digg is the holy grail of geeks worldwide. Its unique ability that allows the users themselves to decide what is posted on the front page has proven popular beyond belief, and changed the way we view the web today. Every day, hundreds of stories submitted by users make it to the front page, but just what makes these stories so popular?

We took 15 frontpage Digg stories and found some statistics about them such as average word count, average Alexa rating, average number of diggs, and more! Because Diggers voted stories with these properties to the front page, keeping your submissions in line with the stats below might help your submissions get more attention, assuming they’re newsworthy in the first place.
