I am pleased to announce that I have been accepted as writer at Blog Critics, an online magazine boasting “a sinister cabal of superior writers” that reaches more than 100,000 visitors every day. PC Fastlane readers are invited to check out my first piece, “Could Windows 7 Bail Out the Tech Industry?”
Regular readers here need not be afraid, however. Writing for Blog Critics will not affect my work here at PC Fastlane.

It’s great to be invited to events, but not so good when companies use the wrong email to contact us. I was scouring through the inbox of an old pcfastlane.com contact email to find PC Fastlane was invited to the 2009 International CES in Las Vegas, Nevada, and free of charge to boot. Even if the message had been sent to the right inbox, I probably wouldn’t have been able to make it, but it’s nice to be included anyway.
This is also a reminder that if you need to contact us, please use the form here. It’s the best way to get in contact with PC Fastlane.

PC Fastlane wishes to extend a happy Thanksgiving to all its readers. While iPhones, computers, and other gadgets are all great, in the end it’s family and friends who make the holiday season most special. So drive carefully, be safe, and eat a lot of turkey! Expect some great new features next week.
In the meantime, there are a few links you might want to check out. As usual, GottaDeal has its site full of Black Friday Deals. LifeHacker has a good bit on what to do with your leftover Thanksgiving food, and Gizmodo has a guide on how to safely microwave a turkey. Finally, those residing in colder latitudes might want to check out our review of the Toro 1800 electric snow thrower.

At approximately 8:30 this morning, an error occurred during a routine software upgrade and PC Fastlane was taken offline for about two hours and twenty minutes. The issue has now been resolved, and the site is fully operational. Sorry for the trouble!

PC Fastlane is happy to announce the addition of a new staff member: our new columnist, Logan Harrison. Logan wrote to PC Fastlane after the announcement of the need for staff members was made, and though he will not be writing about gadget or tech news, he will be doing something just as good. As a columnist, Logan will write a column every once and awhile under the new “Columns” section of the site. Though he has little past publication experience, he promises to provide a unique, interesting, and predictably opinionated and biased analysis of the tech world. Be on the lookout for his first column soon.
Logan describes himself as a “pretty cool guy” from Portland, Oregon. Besides technology, he enjoys other hobbies such as classical music and tennis.
Keep in mind two staff member positions are still available. Read more about applying here.

Things are starting to get too big around here at PC Fastlane for me to manage. The time I can spend posting on the site has been reduced as of late due to my studies, and the site can’t grow without taking on some staff members.

The old site design looked great, but was too limiting. It limited us to displaying only 3 stories on the homepage, and had some serious bugs in IE 6. The bugs were too much work to fix in a decent amount of time, so I changed the design to a new one. It looks quite a bit like the old one, but gives the site a lot more room. There shouldn’t be any bugs with it, but if you experience any problems, contact me and I’ll look into it.

PC Fastlane will be undergoing scheduled maintenance over the next few days. Changes will include a server upgrade, as well as a few bug fixes. Please pardon our dust.
